Michael Allen has over 21 years of experience in acquiring, structuring, financing and disposing companies, primarily in Europe. His experience as a principal covers 10 years and transactions across a broad range of infrastructure sectors including transport (roads, ports and rail in particular), gas storage and transmission, electricity transmission, water and telecommunications infrastructure.
Michael was a member of the team that founded Arcus in 2009 and, since inception, has been the asset manager for the Fund’s investment in Brisa and has recently worked on the execution of the asset management strategy for Brisa, including the offer for all outstanding shares (2012) and take private (2013) as well as several transactions and financings, such as the offer for E+ towers in Germany (2012) and the acquisition finance for Angel Trains (2008). Michael sits both on the board of Brisa as well as the board of the main operating subsidiary, Brisa Concessao Rodoviaria, S.A.
Prior to Arcus, Michael was at Babcock & Brown (2007-2009), Merrill Lynch International (2004-2007), Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (2003-2004), Goldman Sachs International (1999- 2002) and Linklaters (1991-1999) where he completed many successful transactions and financings, in both the bank and capital markets.
Michael holds an LLB in Laws and is an Associate of King’s College, University of London (1986-1989), completed the Law Society Finals in 1991 and qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales whilst at Linklaters.
