Arcus Infrastructure Partners: Portfolio company Officium makes next acquisition in the metering services market

  • Acquisition of Alphamess GmbH closed
  • Expansion of market position in North Rhine-Westphalia
  • Consolidation strategy to be continued after tenth acquisition

Munich, 30 January, 2023: Officium GmbH (“Officium”), a portfolio company of Arcus European Infrastructure Fund 3 SCSp (“AEIF3”), a fund managed by Arcus Infrastructure Partners LLP (“Arcus”), continues its growth strategy with the successful acquisition of Alphamess GmbH in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia (“Alphamess”).

Officium is one of Germany’s leading independent submeter rental and energy service providers for the measurement and billing of water and heat for the housing industry. Alphamess marks Officium’s tenth acquisition in the last two years, demonstrating the success of its aggregation strategy of leading independent players.

With the now completed acquisition of Alphamess GmbH, Officium expands its presence in North Rhine-Westphalia. The members of the existing management team will support the next phase of Alphamess business development.

Volker Wylach, Managing Director of Alphamess, comments: “We are pleased to take the next strategic step with Officium’s strong platform. Officium’s comprehensive know-how will enable us to develop in a targeted manner and to further increase our efficiency. This will benefit both our customers and our employees”.

Stefano Brugnolo, Partner at Arcus, explains: “The German submetering market is highly fragmented and has been consolidating for years. As one of the leading independent providers in this attractive segment, Officium is an ideal platform for small and medium-sized companies with ambition to grow, whilst retaining their identity. We will support Officium in driving forward its buy-and-build strategy even further in the future”.

Stephan Kiermeyer, Managing Director of Officium GmbH, added: “With Alphamess, we now have another strong partner that perfectly complements our service portfolio. This is our tenth acquisition, and further strengthens our market position and increases our presence in North Rhine-Westphalia.”

The purchase price was not disclosed. Officium was advised on this transaction by Noerr (legal) und Alvarez & Marsal (financial).
